Inflammation, Immune and Bronchitis


The home remedies for bronchitis are wide varied as bronchitis can come from viral or bacterial assaults or environmental exposure that create an exaggerated immune response. These and create inflammation and bronchial constrictions.

Some common herbs and spices such as turmeric, ginger, bay leaf, honey, onion, chicory, eucalyptus oil, juniper, and thyme help reduce mucus and inflammation.

The bronchi and lungs produce phlegm to isolate the irritants and we cough to expel them. When the process has gone awry, we can experience tissue damage and chronic inflammation from and immune system over expressing it's desire to attack what may be even benign influences.

Turmeric

Anise

Anise helps clear phlegm from the lungs.

Cardamom

Onion and Garlic

Onions and garlic have been shown to act as expectorants and to reduce inflammation in part because of quercetin, which reduces histamines and stabilizes mast cells.

Eucalyptus Oil

Eucalyptus oil which can be added to an inhaler, aids in relieving incessant coughing and loosens phlegm.

Camphor Oil

Is found in many congestion formulas as it is anti-inflammatory and soothes the inflammation and pain associated with congestion and can be added to inhalers.

Juniper Oil

Juniper berries are considered an excellent treatment for colds, coughs and phlegm deposition. They are generally used in the form of steam inhalations.

Honey

Honey is antibacterial and anti-viral and is a great base when making elderberry extracts which again aids in soothing sore throats and relieves coughs.

Thyme

Thyme oil has antispasmodic, expectorant and antibacterial properties and one of the all time winners in fighting colds and bronchial challenges.

Vitamin D

Immune modulation is critical when the immune system is overactive. Make sure your levels are in the healthy range which many are considering to be in the 50ng/ml -70ng/ml measured in your blood. Many doctors are suggesting you can take 5,000iu for a few days to help regulate. Always confirm your levels after to make sure you are in the optimal ranges throughout the year.

Vit C

Vit C and it's family members, anthocyanins from grape seed extract and Pine bark are also beneficial for the lungs. Some Doctors suggest taking 200mg pine bark and 1,000mg Vit c every two hours to relieve symptoms.

NAC

N-Acetyl-Cysteine is a well know supplement that helps remove inflammation and phlegm from the lungs. It helps produce glutathione which our lungs needs lots of. Especially when we are challenged with inflammation.

Water and Other Fluids

Everyone knows drinking enough water or other fluids can helps flush toxins and regain your health and it helps with bronchitis to some extent as well.
